Welcome to my new blog.
I have always been excited about learning. It was not surprising then that I became a teacher. I tell everyone that I started teaching at the age of 5 when my father arrived home with old blackboards and desks he had purchased/rescued from an old school in our community. He hired someone to install the blackboards on a wall in our basement and set several old wooden desks in front of them. That was my first classroom. My first students were younger brothers and sisters and even dolls that I strapped into the desks. I learned early on that bribes of candy could get my ‘students’ through sheets of multiplication tables. I taught math of course! Arithmetic really. Drill and kill was the order of the day!
You will be relieved to know that I have come a long way since then.
I do hope you will drop by, say hello, and offer suggestions and comments. This blog will be my way of sharing some of the exciting strategies and approaches I see.
